Great plane! Great site!
I was flying hoppers about 15 years ago in Jackson MS. Just a few miles from the Weedhopper factory. (Actually, it was a converted gas station at the time.) The owner back then was Bill Thornton. I've flown with the current owner, Steve Hixon a few times.
Anyway, about 10 years ago, I moved back to Louisiana, my home state, and set up flying at a local airport. One night, with my plane tied down, (no hangar space) a storm blew up and demolished my plane. I sold it for parts and have been wingless ever since. I hope to have another plane in about a year. In the mean time, I have built a new home on a piece of land that is big enough to fly off of. Can't wait to get back into the air! You have a really nice plane there. I like the mods you have done. I'll check back from time to time and let you know when I get my new hopper.
Best of luck, happy flyin.

I've been looking at the Quicksilver Sprint and the Weedhopper. One is a 3 axis and the other is a 2 axis control. How do you think they compare? I know there is a significent price difference and one is a tractor and the other is a pusher. Any major difference here? Are exhaust fumes from the Weedhopper a problem? Is the Rotax 277 really adequate or should I only consider the Rotax 477? Thanks for answering.

You've developed quite a neat informative archive. I fly the "grandson" to the Weedhopper. It's an XAir. How well does the single-seat Weedhopper handle wind? Any idea how well the 2-seat trainer does in wind? I'm a BFI and curious for training purposes. The "grandson" handles wind up to 15 mph rather well. I'm not sure if it's because of the same wing design as the Weedhopper or not. But I've considered doing some flight training in Weedhoppers...for the fun of it!
Thanks,
